Halloween Spiders And Webs Tutorial

It has been a long day. I didn't get much sleep last night and have been exhausted all day. We had a few earthquakes last night that kept us up. I am always worried that our two large fish tanks will fall over or the light hanging above one will drop and kill the fish, which would make me sad, so every time I get out of bed and stand guard next to them.
Anyways, on a lighter note Halloween won out on my poll so I will be showing mostly Halloween themed nail art until the end of October. To start off I wanted a tutorial for something very simple that could easily be done, spiders and webs.

If you would like to know how to do this design keep reading for the tutorial!

I started off with OPI's Gargantuan Green Grape as my base. For the webs I started with fanned out lines and the spiders are one large dot and a dot slightly smaller next to it.

From there added two small lines to the large dot for fangs and four angled lines on each side for legs to create the spider.

Now to finish the webs. Simply make curved lines attaching the fanned out lines together. I like to start in the widest area and work my way back.

Continue connecting all the lines until you have something like this.

Add top coat and you are done! How easy was that? Now you have creepy crawly nails!

I did spiders on my thumb and ring finger and webs on the rest.

Does anyone remember the creepy crawlers toy years ago that you used colored goo and put it in metal molds and made your own like plastic rubber spiders and scorpions and stuff? You know, it was like an easy bake over but with goo and and you made insect things you couldn't eat? We had one of those and I had no clue why but we loved it! I just remembered that, so weird.

  1. I always wanted the creepy crawlers but my parents thought it was gross and thus never bought it for me :(
Great tutorial! I'm definitely going to give this a try.

  3. I wouldn't have guessed that was Gargantuan Green Grape. The black makes it looks like "daytime" glow in the dark (if that makes sense!). This was a great tutorial and it's soooo cute! I'm going to give it a whirl. Also a great way to keep a springish color going until fall.

  4. This looks great!
My brother had a creepy crawlers set and then we got the one that made the edible fruit snack bugs. It was so cool lol

  5. -Awesome mani! Thanks so much for the great halloween ideas!
-I lived a long time in heavy duty earthquake territory and there are things you can do to your tanks and tank area to reduce potential problems during quakes. Ask at the fish/pet stores and the hardware stores near you for ideas or at a business with a large aquarium. Best wishes with that!
-Oh and I always wanted one of those plastic bug making kits when I was a kid.. aw now that I'm thinking of it I still want one!

  9. YES! I remember Creepy Crawlers! Haha, the song for the commercial was so funny, and the part where the brother went to scare his sister with his creations made me laugh.

I love this manicure. I'll definitely be trying it. You've made it look really easy! :) I might have to get a nail-art pen, though to make this easier. My nail striper makes lines that are a bit too wide for this.

  12. Thanks, girls!

Aww, sad, Liz! I don't know why I liked them that much.

That does make sense, NaturalDezine. It is a very bright polish!

Pretty and Polished Lady, wow, if we had one that you could eat them it would have been way cooler, jealous!

DesertNails8, I only have a big issue with one because it is tall, thin and the base is just a wire four leg stand, unstable for bigger earthquakes. Anything over a 6 close by rocks it pretty bad and sloshes water out. Unfortunately, there isn't much we can do here. Our Japanese houses wall wouldn't be able to support the weight during an earthquake. It really needs a wide base cabinet stand like our other has but they are difficult to find here. I am actually considering taking it down. Thanks for the advice though, I appreciate it!

Swatch and Learn, I don't remember that, I will have to look it up on youtube and see if I can find it. I don't even remember when we got ours, just that we had it!

Nail Nerd, I thought about that after I was done. It would look cool with glow in the dark background.

Nailderella, I usually hold my breath so I don't move!

  15. What do you use to paint the black lines on with? I'm assuming the brush it comes with it to big.

  16. I use acrylic paint and a tiny brush, you can find them online or at craft stores or cut most of the bristles off a bigger brush.
