OPI Warm Me Up

Hey guys! A quick post today, I am tying to work through my new polish and get pictures posted. This is OPI Warm Me Up from the new Mariah Carey Holiday 2013 collection. Warm Me Up is a brown-grey with what looks like silver shimmer but when it hits light it has multiple colors. Picture is two coats with top coat.

OPI On Her Majesty's Secret Service vs. Sinful Colors Winter Wonder

Hey guys! First off I have been experimenting with my photos. I made a new lightbox backdrop and changed my lighting set up so it might be a few days before I get everything tuned in and you will probably see a few pictures with my old set up as well.
Anyways, I had to post this today because I was out yesterday and found Sinful Colors Winter Wonder and thought it looked similar to something I just bought. Turns out, it is. It's a very close dupe for OPI On Mer Majesty's Secret Service, though OPI might have slightly larger particles in it. They are both a blue base with blue, green, pink and gold shimmer. Pictures are three coats of Winter Wonder on my index and ring finger and three coats OPI On Mer Majesty's Secret Service on my middle and pinky finger, both with top coat. Even at one coat they look exactly the same and if I didn't know any better I wouldn't be able to tell them apart.

China Glaze Immortal

I finally spotted the China Glaze Wicked collection for Halloween yesterday in our area. At first, I wasn't loving really anything but after seeing them in person I couldn't decide which ones to get. Roguish Red is pretty boring but I loved the rest!
First up today is Immortal, it's a light grey with blue and purple shimmer. I have to say I think this might be my favorite of the collection. Picture is two coats with top coat but could have used a third in some spots.

Black Bats

Hey guys, I hope your week has been nice! The weather has gotten a bit cooler and you can definitely tell fall is here.
Bats have been on my list of Halloween designs for a while now and I couldn't get the thought out of my head the other day so I had to do it. OPI Brand New Skates is the base and I used black acrylic paint for the bats.

OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine!

Alright, so I lied, I thought I wasn't going to get anything else from the Germany collection but I did because I had a coupon for Ulta and picked it up pretty cheap. Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine! is a dark grey with a slight green tint to it. What's nice about it though is it isn't so dark that it looks black all of the time. I have been searching for a dark grey like this for a while. Picture is two coats with top coat and the formula was great.

Alligator/Crocodile Skin with Tutorial

Hey guys! As promised, today I have a tutorial. This started out with me trying to do some kind of elephant skin but it ended up alligator/crocodile skin print instead.

If you would like to see the tutorial keep reading!

China Glaze Elephant Walk

Hey! I hope you are having a great week so far. I know I am probably behind all of you but I just read The Hunger Games book over the weekend and finished watching the movie last night. I have to say, like most everyone does, the book was by far better than the movie. Have any of your read the book and watched the movie? Which did you like better?
Elephant Walk is from the China Glaze On Safari collection for fall. It's a green tinted grey with silver shimmer. The shimmer is just enough that you barely notice it unless in bright light but makes it more interesting than just the boring grey creme. My bottle was a little on the thick side and didn't even out on its own. Picture is two coats with top coat.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for a nail art tutorial!

BYS Matte Grey

Hey guys! How was your weekend? It seems like time is flying by for me! We only have about a month left here in Japan. Anyways, when I stopped by the Japanese drug store last week I noticed they got BYS polishes in recently and I couldn't resist trying one of the mattes. I've been on the look out for mattes here but you don't see them much.
Matte Grey is a basic dark grey, I wouldn't say it is very matte but it isn't as glossy as regular polishes. It's more of a satin finish. While I don't love this one it is interesting but I do wish it was more matte.
Picture is two coats. I had no problems with this one. It didn't even smell that bad like the BYS polishes usually seem to. Since it isn't as glossy it does dry pretty quick.

How do you like matte polish? Do you have a favorite matte top coat? I've been looking for one and need suggestions.

Tinsel Town

I haven't been around much lately, sorry for that! I had planned to do nail art all month but haven't really felt up to it. Hopefully, I will get back on track. I do have a few swatches to post and another Hello Kitty design, I wore that for more than a week and still haven't posted it, I'm horrible. The pictures are being edited right now so it should be up soon.
Today I have Tinsel Town, another polish from my swap with Marketta, is a charcoal blue base with silver glitter. It reminds me a lot of China Glaze It's Alive just grey instead of green. I used two coats, it covered perfectly with no issues.

Brand New Skates vs Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous

Since these two look similar in the bottle I had to compare them. Brand New Skates and Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous are close but still different. BNS is sheer and needs three coats but has a beautiful gold/red and green shimmer to it while LLM is a bit darker, only needs two coats and it packed with silver shimmer. If I had to choose one it would be Brand New Skates just because I think it is more unique but they are both gorgeous.
The first picture is one coat of BNS on my index and ring finger and one coat of LLM on my middle and ring finger.

This is three coat of BNS on my index and ring finger and two coats of LLM on my middle finger and pinky.

What do you think, are they close enough that you only need one, which do you prefer?

Brand New Skates

Because I am still wearing my The Nightmare Before Christmas mani and I didn't show the base color I used for it on its own I figured I would show it to you now. Brand New Skates is from OPI's Holiday In Toyland collection from I believe 2008 and is one of the polishes I picked up in Guam. It is a nice dark gray/silver with gold and even a little green shimmer which you can see on my index finger. It was a little sheer, I used three coats but other than that no problems.

I can't believe October is already over! Are there any older polishes that you would pick up if you saw them?

Lucerne-Tainly Look Marvelous And Mad As A Hatter Birthday Mani

Hi girls, today was my birthday so I had to wear my favorite polish ever, Mad As A Hatter. To conserve it and make it last a few days I use a solid color under it. Back when I first got it I used black but after I picked up Lucerne-Tainly Look Marvelous last year I layer it with that now.
Lucene-Tainly Look Marvelous is a dark gun metal grey with a great formula and is opaque in two coats.

I am sure every one knows Mad As A Hatter so not much to say there.

I also think I have finally frankened MAAH as well, excited! I will be back soon with more Halloween tutorials, too!

Suzi Takes The Wheel

Suzi Takes The Wheel is a beautiful grey, it does have a green tint to it but not as much as it seems in other pictures I have seen. Like A-Taupe The Space Needle, this one was a bit watery but was opaque in two coats.

 Next up, more Halloween designs!
