Birthday Nails

Hey guys, hope you are having a great weekend! It has been kind of a tradition for the past few years that I wear Mad As A Hatter for my birthday. It's about the only time I wear it just because I don't want to run out of it anytime soon. I used OPI Black Onyx for the base and then dabbed Mad As A Hatter on the tips and brushed back towards the cuticle.

Blue Leopard

So you all probably know how much I love leopard print so it shouldn't be any surprise that I had to do it in blue. Ogre-The-Top Blue is the base and the glitter spots are done with OPI Simmer & Shimmer and the outlining is a dark blue acrylic paint.

Paw Prints

Another quick post today, this is a design I have done before but have never shown here. It always get so many compliments but is so simple and quick to do so I thought it was about time I posted it. OPI Alpine Snow is the base and the paws were done with black acrylic paint and a dotting tool.

Black Bats

Hey guys, I hope your week has been nice! The weather has gotten a bit cooler and you can definitely tell fall is here.
Bats have been on my list of Halloween designs for a while now and I couldn't get the thought out of my head the other day so I had to do it. OPI Brand New Skates is the base and I used black acrylic paint for the bats.

Candy Corn No Water Marble

Just a quick post today. I wanted to do candy corn tips like last year but try it a different way. I loved the fall no water marble from a few weeks ago so I went with that idea. I used OPI Barre My Soul as the base and Alpine Snow, A Roll In The Hague and L'Oreal Tweet Me. The colors a a bit too swirled together on my index finger but other than that I like the way it turned out.

Emerald Tree Boa Snakeskin

Hey guys! Today I have another snakeskin design inspired by the Emerald Tree Boa which you can see here. The base is OPI Who The Shrek Are You? with green and white acrylic paint randomly sponged on, black acrylic paint to make the scales and a bit of TiNS The Surf Boy across the tips for some glitter. You can see my snakeskin tutorial here if you would like to try it.

Max Factor Fantasy Fire

Back a few months ago Esther over at Fab Fingertips kindly offered to send me a bottle of Max Factor Fantasy Fire, a said to be close match for Clarins 230 and Urban Decay Toxin, since it was on my wishlist and I couldn't be happier with it even thought it has taken me so long to try it. Fantasy Fire is a beautiful sheer purple base with red, gold and green multichrome shimmer. Picture is one coat of Fantasy Fire layered over black with top coat.

 Thanks so much Esther!

Bloody Nails

I just couldn't stand it any longer, I had to start doing nail art for Halloween. I saw some nail polish strips a few weeks ago that were bloody and it seemed easy enough to try it. I started with a white polish base and then added red polish near the cuticle with lines and drops. If I had been smarter at the moment I would have used a dotting tool for the bloody drips.

Smoke And Ashes with Glitter

Smoke And Ashes, back from the Capitol Colors collection for The Hunger Games movie, is a very dark base with green and blue glass flake. It is a pretty polish but unless you are in bright lighting the glass flake gets lost and looks almost just black. Picture is two coat with top coat.

I had to add some randomly placed glitter since I was so let down with this polish.

 Have a great weekend!

OPI Just Spotted The Lizard, A Little Argyle Art And Our Puppy

Hey guys! It has been a busy past few days for us training our new dog. She really didn't know how to play or what toys were for other than bones to chew on. We've taught her how to play fetch so far but she gets bored easily and just wants to be loved on.
Just Spotted The Lizard is back from the Spider-man collection for summer. It's a gold with a touch of green and a green/blue duochrome. This is said be be an exact match for Chanel Peridot along with several other brands of polish like this. While I don't have Peridot to compare, they do look alike from the picture I have seen. Picture is two coats with top coat, formula was great but it does show some brushstrokes.

I was trying out some argyle with glitter but in the process of taking pictures I hit both my index and middle finger, severely denting the polish, so I left those two out.

And, as a bonus, here is our Malamute, Sasha.

Fall No Water Marble

Hey guys, I hope you had a great weekend! We added a new member to our family, a female Alaskan Malamute, and have been getting her adjusted to her new home the past few days. Surprisingly, she is doing really well even though I think she has separation anxiety.
Today I have a no water marble design, were you drop polish on a wet base and swirl them on the nail before it dries. This is the first time I have gotten the no water method to work for me. I wanted it to resemble fall colors, sort of like fallen leaves. Barre My Soul is the base and Suzi Loves Cowboys, San Tan-tonio, Warm & Fozzie and German-icure By OPI were used for the marble on the tips.

Have you tried any marble designs, do you prefer the water or no water method?

Funky French Leopard

Hey guys! Just a quick post today. I had this idea for a funky french with leopard for a while but never got the chance to try it out. The only thing I wish I had done different was make the black lines more exaggerated. I used OPI Barre My Soul as the base, OPI Black Onyx for the french, a holo glitter I picked up back in Japan for the spots and along the french line, and the outline for the spots is acrylic paint.

Sally Hansen In A Flurry

Sally Hansen In A Flurry is a dark base with green/gold and purple shimmer. It has a bit of duochrome but it is hard to capture. You can see the purple on the tips of my middle and ring finger. Great polish, I really like this one. Picture is three coats with top coat. The formula was a little thin but it wasn't watery. My only issue? Every time, never fails with Sally Hansen it seems and I always forget to check, my brush had stray hairs that had to be cut off.

China Glaze Orange You Hot? with Gradient

Hey guys! Orange You Hot?, from the Summer Neons collection, is one I picked up on sale a while back from Sally's. It's a bright neon orange with orange and silver shimmer. Because it is neon it does dry matte and needs top coat to be shiny. Picture is three coats with top coat.

I had to try Orange You Hot? with L'Oreal Tweet Me sponged over the tips for a subtle gradient since they seemed great for each other.

Pink Alligator Skin

So, I had to try the alligator/crocodile skin again but this time in pink. I made a few adjustments from my first try and I think it turned out a bit better even though there are still changes I would make. I used OPI Sparrow Me The Drama for the base and the rest is acrylic paint.

Orly Mysterious Curse and China Glaze Haute Metal

Hey guys, I hope you are all doing well. We got the news a few days ago that my husbands grandfather passed away. I only met him for a brief time back in July but from the stories my husband always told he was an amazing person and I know he will be deeply missed, my thoughts go out to his family.
Not much to say today so it will be a quick post with lots of pictures. Mysterious Curse, another from the Orly Dark Shadows collection, is a dark blue/purple with blue shimmer. Picture is three coats with top coat, it was a little thin but nothing too bad.

China Glaze Haute Metal over Orly Mysterious Curse.
