Sugar Coated Nails

Hi guys! I stumbled across this fake sugar powder at the Japanese store here a little while back. It is supposed to be used for decorating you phone and all that but I couldn't resist trying it on my nails.
The base is Color Club Blue-Ming from the other day. To get the powder to stick I covered my nails with a thick coat of top coat and dipped them in the powder. I gave the top coat a minute to start drying then pushed the powder down into it and brushed the excess off. It worked way better than I thought it would!
It's definitely not something to wear all the time, or practical at all, but it is interesting and kind of cool to look at.

Here is a picture of the sugar powder I used.

Have you tried anything like this on your nails before?

    1. Yeah, I didn't like the caviar nails and I've had the sugar for a while so I figured I would try it.

  6. Never seen anything like it! It wouldn't last over a day on me (heavily textured things never do) but this looks SO cool!

  7. Haha, that's pretty neat! It kinda looks like salt to me more then sugar! If it was colored I'd get more of a sugar vibe from it. Still neat though.

    1. Thanks! That's what I thought at first! I wish I could think of some way to dye it pink!

    2. Hmm maybe hair color or kool-aid or food coloring would work depending on how porous it is. Maybe it would retain some of the dye. I'd love to see how it turns out if you try to dye it!

    3. I thought about it but I don't think the powder is porous enough to hold anything. It's not really like powder, more like clay or plastic. I will have to think of something to try!

  8. This is a really cute idea! I would wear this if I were going to an anime convention, or a manga convention. It feels really fun and cosplay!

  11. This is really cool! I love how the base colour shines through making the sugar look tinted. I've tried the "caviar nails" look before, but haven't tried sticking anything else to my nails... maybe I'll have to start getting creative? ;)

  12. Yes, this nail art is not very practical but it looks like you dipped your nails in sugar...sweet!

Was it a pain to remove?

    1. Actually, it wasn't that bad! No worse than removing glitter.
