Hello Kitty With Monsters Tutorial

First off, I apologize for the horrid cuticles, the weather here has not been kind and snowboarding doesn't help either. Second, this isn't as in depth as I usually do my tutorials but if you have been around and have seen my other HK tutorials it is pretty similar to those. Plus, I sort of forgot to take pictures of everything but I am sure you will be able to follow along.
When I saw the monster designs for some of the new Hello Kitty stuff I knew I had to do nail art to match. My base is OPI Skull & Glossbones. Start off by making the basic shapes with black acrylic paint. I am only doing Hello Kitty's face on my ring fingers and the rest will be the plain monsters.

After you have the shapes, start filling in. I always do the white for HK's head first and work out from there. The monsters with the pointed horns are green and the crab looking ones are red and blue but you could do them any color you like.

Finish filling in and adding details like the eyes, mouths, rosy cheeks, and HK's bow.

Add top coat and you are done.

Pictures of my right hand, not so great but I loved this one so much I wore it over a week! I did add some gold holographic glitter the next day but didn't get pictures of it with that.

I do a lot of Hello Kitty designs so would you like to see every step of how I do them all or would you just prefer the pictures since most of them are done the same way?

Tinsel Town

I haven't been around much lately, sorry for that! I had planned to do nail art all month but haven't really felt up to it. Hopefully, I will get back on track. I do have a few swatches to post and another Hello Kitty design, I wore that for more than a week and still haven't posted it, I'm horrible. The pictures are being edited right now so it should be up soon.
Today I have Tinsel Town, another polish from my swap with Marketta, is a charcoal blue base with silver glitter. It reminds me a lot of China Glaze It's Alive just grey instead of green. I used two coats, it covered perfectly with no issues.

Pink And Black Plaid Tutorial

A super quick and easy design today but one that I think looks really nice. If you have problems making straight lines my advice is get a very long striping bush, load it with paint and lay the brush on the nail then drag it off. Instead of trying to draw a line the brush will do it for you.
Start with a pink base, I used OPI Cherry Blossoms because of the shimmer in it.

With black acrylic paint make a thin and a wide line down each nail.

Now, with pink acrylic paint make a line on each black line.

Lastly, make a few thin black lines across each nail, top coat and your done.

I hope you all have a Happy Valentines Day if you celebrate it!

Red Nails With Easy Lace Tutorial

I wasn't going to post this at first but then I thought why not? I don't love it but maybe someone else will.
I started off with a red base.

Make a black slanted french tip, with acrylic paint made the line more perfect and make small loops above the tip.

Add a few dots above the loops.

Make small dots in a brick laying pattern across the black tip. I wish I would have used red for this but I used white and I think that is why I don't like it much, it seems out of place I guess. I learned this type of lace nail art from Robin Moses, if you haven't watched her videos on YouTube you are really missing out.

After you cover the black tips with dots, top coat and your done.

Do you think the white looks out of place here? While we are on the subject, have you ever used real lace on your nails?

V-Day Pink/Red Sponged Tiger Print

Yeah, another tiger print, you should know by now. This one is pink to red fade with glitter. I had to do one for Valentines day because I've had it in my head a while and figured it would be perfect for it.
Start out with a white base. It doesn't have to be perfect, most of it will be covered up later anyway.

Sponge on pink acrylic paint leaving a little bit of white near the cuticle. Don't worry about being too neat, you can clean up around the nail later.

With red acrylic paint do the same thing leaving a bit of pink showing.

At this point I went ahead and cleaned up the acrylic paint but you can always wait until after top coat if you like. I added a red and silver glitter, Gettin' Miss Piggy With It, over the pink and red.

Make your tiger print with black acrylic paint, you can see my tutorial on that here. Add top coat and your finished.

Do you have you Valentines day manicure planned out? What will you be wearing?

Models Own Aqua Violet

My first Models Own, back before these came out I asked Marketta about picking this up for me and I am so glad she agreed! Aqua Violet is beautiful, it shifts from a blue/teal to violet. I really like this more then I thought I would. The only downside is the formula is thin, watery and needed four coats for me but that seems to be the norm for duochromes. On the plus side it did dry quick for me. There isn't much else to say about this one except I couldn't decide on just one or two photos so enjoy!

Did you pick up any of the Beetlejuice polishes, which is your favorite?

Nicole By OPI Wear Something Spar-Kylie

First off, this polish refused to photograph clear for me. I swatched it twice, took over a hundred pictures and this was the best it would take. I know it has to be the polish because I put on another, took pictures of it and they turned out perfectly but when I went back to this it was the same thing, not great, no clue why. My camera just freaks out with this glitter.
Anyways, Wear Some Thing Spar-Kylie is from the Kardashian Kolor for holiday 2011. I don't care for the Kardashian's but a few of the glitters in this collection were nice. Marketta sent this one to me in our swap and I am glad she did, I  really like it.
Wear Something Spar-Kylie is a pink jelly packed with pink and silver glitter. I had no problems with application other than the brush was cut at a bit of an angle, I used three coats.

Revlon Sparkling

Revlon Sparkling is supposedly a dupe for Deborah Lippmann Some Enchanted Evening. While I don't have Some Enchanted Evening, the pictures I have seen of it appear to be pretty similar to Sparkling.
Sparkling has a clear base with small pink glitter and large pink hex glitter. Pictures are from the pinky finger one coat, ring two coats, middle three coats and index four coats. At four coats it still isn't opaque and would be best as a layering polish, I think black or light blue would look amazing.

Do you prefer to wear glitters that aren't opaque like this one on their own, under a type of nude polish or do you like to wear them over colored polish?
